Ministry of Defense has awarded a Contract to Renardet SA & Partners to carry out the design, preparation of Tender Documents as well as the Supervision for Improvements of Airport Components in RAFO Khasab. Khasab Airport is located in the Musandam Governorate, one of the scenic and strategic regions in Oman. The Airport has a single 2502 m long by 23 m wide asphalt runway, an asphalt taxiway and an apron partially in asphalt with remainder in concrete. The airport is used by both military and civil aircraft with both daily scheduled and daily chartered international flights. The Airport includes the following facilities such as runway, partial parallel taxiway, aircraft parking apron, terminal building, helicopter base, cargo shed, reuse and fire fighting facilities, watchtower and access and car parking.

Pavement evaluation of the runway, taxiway and apron
Design for widening the existing runway to 45 m wide with 2 x 7.5 m shoulders and extending it by 282 m to 2,784 m
Extending the existing taxiway to provide a full length parallel taxiway with connections to runway at either end and provide 1 No additional exit taxiway
Extending the existing apron
Provide apron floodlighting
Improvements of the profile and drainage characteristics of the runway, taxiways and apron
Runway markings to all new surfaces
Provision of a new AGL Sub-station complete with standby generator
Provision of Aeronautical Ground Lighting (AGL) and NAVAIDS
Provide illuminated signboards for runway, taxiway and apron
Re-mark the helicopter and military aircraft apron
Provide arrestor gear for the military aircraft
Provide perimeter security wall/fence with perimeter track & security lighting
Design of new Cargo shade and provide walls and gates to existing building
Design new fire service vehicle shade
Design new office building
Check as to suitability of existing external services ie electricity, water, drainage, sewerage and telephone services
Fire alarm and communication systems
Phasing of the construction works in order to keep the airport operational while minimising interruptions to aircraft operations and maintaining high safety standards
Preparation of cost estimate, tender documents and construction supervision
