The existing road is an asphalt road constructed more than 15 years ago and consists of two lanes of 6.0 m wide and 1.0 unpaved shoulder on each side. The traffic demand on the road in subject has significantly increased over the past years, and will continue to increase especially after the completion of Sayhut – Nishtun Road. Due to this fact, the pavement condition has significantly deteriorated and many drainage structures have been damaged. The work in this project comprises the conceptual feasibility study and preparation of the tender documents for the rehabilitation of A’Raya – Sayhut Road. The feasibility study is aimed at testing several alternatives for the rehabilitation works, considering 7.5 m carriageway and 2.4 m shoulders to meet the ESCWA requirements. As part of the scope of works, the costs and project benefits corresponding to each alterative are assessed and analyzed using the World Bank HDM-4 package in order to determine the economic feasibility level of each rehabilitation alternative. The most feasible alternative is recommended for the Client’s approval and implementation. The tender documents are to be prepared for the selected alternative.
